ML320, Looking for my S4
**** Engineering
Ok so i decide to go on my balconey for that last cigg of the day and i look down to my lobby and some poor guy cant get his car started. I decide to keep watching to see what happenes and it turns out to be one of my friends in his crx honda. So i give him a call and go dont and grab my car. I know that the battery is in the trunk from changing it once or twice and now the problems begin. I go to my trunk and lift up the spare tire cover and the light for the trunk is blocked. Its 1am and its dark. I start fiddling around to find my jumper cables. After finding them pop the hood and find 1 terminal. (it also helps that mercedes doesn't have a engine bay light) so its 1 am, dark as hell and we can't find the other terminal. were looking around for about 15 min with 2 cell phone lights. My doorman is fast asleep. we can't find it. First we think the suspension screw might be multi purpous, but that gets ruled out. so finnaly we find this screw looking thing sticking outa the right side of my engine. we dicide to try it. Next my jumper cables catch fire. perfect. we get the fire out and being that mercedes doesn't mark their terminals we hook it up the wrong way and sparks fly as my friend shocks him self ::it was truely halarious:: we get it right the next time. Just outa curiosoity has any of you had a similar problem with ur **** benz's?

Hey let's ALL be honest here, since when has a guy (any guy) ever stopped to read a manual for anything the first time around much less a car manual for the + & - posts on a battery?

I would read the manual. I am not going to be a scientist and try things out in the dark. If it's not urgent (which was not his case) then I would post a message or search around in here....
just my 2 cents...

So you are not exactly a "hit the ground running" type of guy and you are the type of guy that would tell a friend at 1 in the morning, Sorry, yes, that is my car over there but I cannot give you jump as I have not read the manual

okay, we've all pile on enough in this smack down. :-)
this reminded me of my buddy (rest his soul) who called me sunday 3am
asking for a jump. he had gotten out of a bar and his battery was dead.
i get out of my fuzzy slippers and jammies and jump into the truck. i work
on his car for about 30 mins in the cold and it still wasn't starting. "I'm not
sure what else to do" i says.
Chris responds "no big deal, I have AAA...I'll give them a call".
dude.......I almost dropped him right there and then.

If you aren't smart enough to know how to jump a car or recognize a positive terminal then you shouldn't even open your mouth about the engineers who designed these cars. Let alone call them *****. What the hell is that?

OEM for many Nissan trucks. i liked it so much i made one for the E320 engine compartment, though I have a Surefire in the console box, and a 5 cell Maglite
in the boot (which is actually more of a weapon).

ok, i do agree that i never read the manual mainly because i bought the car used and i never had one. The fact is that it was pitch black there are terminals in the engin bay but with 2 cell phone lights at 1 am, half asleep i dont think anyone if going to be 100%. I will admit i was an idiot that day, but hey we all have our blond moments
Tommy, don't feel bad because 2000 other MB forum members have made you
feel like a pile of horse manure, Ask them what mistakes THEY made lately, Glad you weren't hurt, but a picture of the whole sordid mess would have helped.....
Good luck, and incidently, the negative goes on the inner car frame...
