New rear light socket?

I've been getting the light defective message, checked all lights, notice that the rear brakes light on one side was blown....replaced bulb but still get message. I think I may need to replace socket that holds the bulb?, If so anyone know where I could get a new one other than the dealer??

Also read in another forum to try to clean the contacts and spray with some kind of electrical spray....any suggestions????

hear this is a big problem with the 210 models. Help E-320 2000

Might want to try the good socket along with bulb from the side that is working to narrow your problem down to the socket. The dealer price on sockets is anywhere from $8 to $10. I may have some spares around if you are for sure that is your problem.

had the same problem about a year ago. I changed all the bulbs, sockets. Just save your self the hassle buy a whole new fixture. If you need a 1996- 00 ::i think:: i can give you mine once i get my new ones this week

Thanks 4Runner and Tommygunn, I took the metal contacts out from the socket and sanded them..........and walla no more brake light defect message! Hope this lasts...but so far no defect message! if it comes back I will let you guys know. Thanks again fellas!!!
