Question for Non-US E-Class Owners

Sorry for the bizarre question, but if any of you who have W210 bodies would please take a quick look at your trunklids for me? I'm looking for the approx width of the piece just about where your license plate is, but below the star logo. It holds the lights for the plate.

Since Euro plates are much wider than US plates, is that piece correspondingly wider?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the trunk handle for the Euro model is wider than the US trunk handle. A pic of my previous US 1998 E430 with custom chrome plated handle:

Kev, Where did you get it from?

The only one I ever see is from a dope in CA on ebay who is selling the Euro size and then he ignores you.

p.s. Acyually "trunk handle" is a different part that adds a lip to the bottom of the license plate. Oberclasse has those, but not the thing you have in the photo.

I got it from www.statusimports.com They custom plate it. OberKlasse does not have it. They listed it but it was the Euro one. Trunk Handle is actually the name of it also.

Looks like the status imports page doesn't work anymore. Did they go out of business?

Ever wonder how a search engine makes money. You have to pay them to have your website listed. It comes up #2 in Altavista.

I thought they got ads. live and learn.

This vendor is expensive. I guess these are the heavy "real" accessories, not the plastic-chrome stuff.

They do get money from ads, however, they also charge website for listings. At the bottom of www.altavista.com is a link stated "Submit A Site". Then they explain their basic and premium services.

Most search engines do not charge to list your site in a search. They will however put you on the top of the list for a fee.

Regards,

Don

Yes, but I didn't know that you got yours from the same vendor. I think their price is a tad high for a simple metal strip....$150!

Actually the piece is plastic. $150 for a custom chrome piece that you can not purchase anywhere else in world seems a bargain. That is if you want it. You can search hi and low and you will never find that part in chrome from anyone that fits a US trunk. I know I tried.

Yea, I've come to that conclusion. It's just that the euro-spec piece I won on ebay was real metal, and it cost only $61.

I also got in touch with another outfit that auctions these for BMW and Lexus, and they said they'd have them made in about a month or so. So there's hope.

Thats not mine i just posted their pic from their website, I don't really see the point of this thing i think it will look goofey with the us plate holder below it, If i was going to do it I would call some german places and get the full rear deck lid. I dont think I will, just ordered rims and looking at exuast right now.
