Check Engine Electronics

well today while i was driving, the light on the gas gauge was blinking, even though i had a half tank of gas in my car. Then after i turned the car off, and turned it back on, the blinking went away, but then it came back on a few miles later. Then as soon as i pulled into my driveway, the blinking stopped, and the check engine electronics warning came up. What could be the problem?

Gas cap not on all the way? Maybe a leaking gas cap?

Your going to have to get the computer cleared now. Once a code is detected, ie engine computer problem, it wont just go away. I just went thru a computer problem on my car a few months ago. It was a pain in arss!

So, in order to have the code cleared you'll find out what the code is. That will narrow your search. Good luck.

(Edit: Oh well, disregard this post. You found it................ )

I'd drive it a few days; I've seen the light go off and not have a trouble code after a few starts, as long as the gas cap is securely in place.

The quickest way is to go to Autozone. That way if anything else happens to the car which alerts the computer you wont know. Its best to clear it asap.

I have the same issue. I took car to my mechanic, check the gas cap in case that was the issue. After securing the gas cap and resetting the computer to clear the code, I drove the car 10 miles and the blinking light on gas gauge started blinking again. I'm assuming gas cap is ok, anyone else have these issues?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Inspect the

gasket in the cap for cracks or tears.
Then pry it out and flip it over and replace the cap till it clicks.
If it works there is no need to erase the code the fuel lamp will stop blinking and the cel will go away.
If no work get a new fuel cap from the dealer or autohausaz.com
also don't ever fill up with the engine running and never top off the tank.
Other causes of gas cap warnings and CEL's

Thank you for the info. ohlord! I turned over the gas cap gasket and we will see if that works. How long does it take for the check engine light to go off?
