New style key
Since there are more than 8 keys ordered so far for my car (both previous owner and I must have common bad habbit of losing key, 3 on my part so far), the new key didn't work out of the box. Notice that Mercedes can only program the first 8 keys (they work w/ the car right out of the box), from the 9th key on, I have to manually program the key and the car EIS to recognize each other. W/ the help of my friend (Mercedes master tech), I was able to do this at home. Some dealer charge 1-3 hour to do this, some stealer require the entire EIS to be replaced ($2-3K job) once they see that you exceed the 8 key limit.
The key take much less time to learn the EIS, 90 min later, then it's all done, I guess they improve the chip inside. On my previous key (older style), it takes whole day.
So now I have three keys for my car: one in the original style, one in the later style, and one w/ the latest style.
Key look REALLY nice, and feel good in hand

our success in spreading the word. wonder who put the kabosh on this 75% off?
even though the cut rate price has expired, the new price still beat my local
dealers' price hands down.
RF range same as with 1st gen Smartkey. from the front of the car, about 80'
with the jawbone trick. avg 3-4 car lengths used normally.

but though this was at $60 a week ago, the price has since doubled to $115.
still, it's 50-60% cheaper than the price many dealers are quoting.
