Hmm, for some reason I get that light coming on every once in a while. Like, once every month or two. I just shut off the car and turn it back on.

2002 E320 4matic 92K (bought 12/20/06). 2000 E430 4matic (RIP 12/9/06) :(
this could mean your airbag wont' work if needed...it can be an expensive fix but for the whole safety issue you should get it checked out at a dealership...i'm of the understanding they're the only ones who can reset the light for good and will only do it if they feel the airbag sensors are working properly.

I had the same problem with mine.
First the srs-lamp sometimes was on but most times off, till one day the fat mum of my wife was sitting on the right front seat:
SRS-Lamp was permanent on.
There is a sensor in the seat.
The cable was broken.

I bought my car with the airbag light on. It was a faulty airbag sensor and ~450 to fix.

Not worth being sued over if a passenger in your car is injured due to your negligence...

I had the same problem. The dealer quoted me $450 to fix it. Instead, I looked on ebay and purchased a set of used seats that matched my leather. They were in great shape and cost me only $500 shipped. Plus, they already have the heating element in the seat so I can now add the heated option. My suggestion is that you look on ebay for another used seat. They are really easy to swap out.
