Exclamation check engine light, computer issues

My e430 is showing codes that say all the o2 sensors and heater banks are bad. I have had them all replaced twice. I also replaced the mass air flow sensor. I have even bench tested the new o2 sensors to make sure they were not bad from the factory. I am starting to think there is something wrong with the computer in the car. The last shop I had it in even flashed the computer to see if it would fix it , nothing is fixing this car. MB says they would have to just charge me hourly to try to find the problem, lol. can anyone help me out? I was thinking about changing the computer out but not sure if all E430 computers are interchangable . please anybody!!!!!

I will get on the phone with my mechanic and find out the exact code but I think he said it is giving a lean code. As soon as he calls me back I will post again. Thanks

No ME control units are innerchangable with your car. They are all married to the car they're installed in. So do not get a junkyard module. It's a new one only, and if you install it, it's yours for life.

There's alot of stuff it can probably be. If it's an code claiming an open or short in the circuit, then my guess is you have a wiring problem. If it's something like "aging period too long", or something to that effect, then it could be any of many drivability problems.

I bought a used servicable ECM off ebay for my 1997 E420 last year. In my case I did not need it. It is functional as my MB shop checked it out for me as they diagnosed the car for codes. They also told me it "could" be installed but would have to be done by them. The ECM computer talks to the instrument cluster and is car specific but can be installed if its matched to the car its being put in. I am sure its expensive but when compared to buying a new ECM I am sure its cheaper. Oh, I only paid $49.00 for the used ECM.

My MB shop diagnosis was about $225. So to installed a used ECM in your car, if it really needs one, should'nt be more than a few hours of labor. Maybe a few hundred bucks.......... Good luck.

Will you sell the ME if you don't need it and if it's good?
I'm not sure if I'll need one (I hope not, see my thread "misfire" 4/16/07 ) , but I will find out soon. What state are you in? Thanks.

Woh now. A 97 E420 uses an HFM control module, which can be interchangable. You have a an E430, which all have ME control modules, which is not interchangable.
