Help with irregular idling

My cousin's 1997 E320 seems to have a problem when idling and even at low speeds - especially when the car is cold, the idle is not constant but goes up and down constantly between approximately 500 and 1000 RPMs. At low speeds (for instance when approaching an intersection) this sometimes makes the car slightly sprint forward as the brakes are depressed (this is not very noticeable and it most likely happens due to the same problem when the engine revs itself up).

Any ideas about what might be causing this?

I might help, and I don't see how it could hurt, to add a fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. MB appoves of Chevron Techron Concentrate and I have read about several people on here using that. MB also sells their own branded gas-additive through their dealers too.

There is nothing wrong with buying mafs on ebay, you just need to make sure they are OEM, not "OEM FIT" or "JUST LIKE OEM." You need to make sure the part is actually made by bosch. I got mine on ebay and had no problems

Show me the link to the ebay auction that you purchased the maf from.

Will get the link soon, I think the part is not Bosch but the auction said it was the exact replacement of the part number we needed.

The other funny thing is that his car is almost your car's twin - white with clear lights, however with the grille slats painted white and no rims... Lots of issues with it, from sensors to the head gasket in only 8 months - did you experience the same?

I have not experienced those problems. The only problems that I have had in the past 8 months were AC related, and now my AC is fixed. The auction may say the exact replacement of the part number that you needed, but that doesn't mean it's oem. That would be your problem.

This is what you need. Insert this into your OEM broken maf that you took off. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-B...04467385QQrdZ1

The sensor is removed with a torxl security bit.

Sounds good, we'll try that. I have the torx keys, I removed the MAF insert before. Thanks for the input!

Hick ups at pressing the gas from idle

my 1997 E320, Slight Hickups (the RPM dives to 0 for a fraction of a second and comes back, sometimes it dives without a come back, needs restart) when i press the gas from idle position, i checked MAF, which didn't help, changed fuel pump, filter, as well as a sensor in front of the engine ( said to regulate the fuel and electric supply to injectors) i checked the coils, wires, plugs, cleaned the throttle actuator with WD40, added injector cleaner several times... could it be the injectors themselves worn out? after how many miles do the injectors need replacement? could there be any other reason? on the OBD scan
