Malfunction Msg displayed

On my way home from work, I got an ESP Malfunction Msg followed by BAS, ABS malfunction msg. Per the Operator's Manual, the ESP indicates it may be caused by power supply was interrupted (battery disconnected or empty). Does this mean I need to replace my battery? I'm also concern why the ABS-BAS (brake assist) malfunction/warning Msg indicator came on also. Appreciate any feedback.

They're all related, using the same sensors...

New Brake light switch. Be certain to use the correct MB switch. I also suggest you have it correctly diagnosed before throwing parts at it. Well worth the few bucks it costs and the switch is not expensive.

Give them your VIN when buying (like $15), they gave me the wrong switch the first time and I took the whole thing apart and wouldn't fit. Check old posts on removing covers and location of switch.

ive experienced the same thing

hey that happened to me before when i put on new rims. i had a bunch of malfunction messages pop up so i took it to my repairman. he told me that the brake sensors or something might have been messed up. i decided not to do anything about it, and one year later, there hasn't been one message.

Let us know what you find. Those same lights come on on my car randomly about once a week. After a restart of the car they are gone. I have no idea why they come on. sometimes when I am cruising, sometimes when I put on the brake, and most of the time the are not on. any clues would be welcome.

It was a faulty brake light switch - luckily, my starmark extended warranty covered the part and labor cost which fixed the problem (pheww), but, I understand its a pretty simple task and the part cost $20 for the brake light switch.

Purchased mine from the dealership, cheaper than any online offer w/shipping cost. I dont purchase much from the dealer, but when the cost is less than $20, if just makes more sense.
