1. Go to stealer?
2. Order online?
3. Schucks?
4. 1-800-merc?
5. Aftermarket/different brand?

NEVER EVER go to dealership just for a battery that is out of warranty. I'd buy my own at a local parts store. I've only taken my car back for a battery because they covered it under warranty (MY04 maintenance plan).

The cost was too high just for replacing a battery at the dealership.

Good luck.

Go to

Lynnwood, battery place just west of hwy 99 on south side of 196st sw,ask the young fella that owns the place for his best battery for the E you drive. He installs ,knows his stuff, you will need your radio code so stop at lynnwood mercedes if you don't have it,before you go get the new battery. have used it for 20 years, great prices and drop dead quick service.

Schucks in Ballard has Exide 84 Month (1 year free replacment) for $89.

Any reason Exide wouldn't work? I would of course check to make sure the vent pipes line up right or at least follow the DIY someone did here for aftermarket vent line up...

So bottom line, would Exide work?

Further north

Mill Creek,no offense taken,I avoid anything south of here, unless I'm going to Seattle for parts at autosports international.
Happy voltage!

Optimas don't fit correctly.
1. Too tall
2. Base will not engage locking plate.
3. Terminals are wrong

But if you want a hack job, the Optima is for you.

Battery.

Sears Diehard International Battery cost $109.00 + tax, exactly the same size ,mounting point at the base, it does have the vent tube, also Interstate battery , about the same price, but the vent tube is a little different, compare with MB factory battery for $150,00. The dealer will charge extra $$ for replacing.

i had need to replace mine (99 E320) and after browsing the collective
wisdom, having basic needs (no huge power amp, etc), I simply went to
Autozone and bought that for about $75 out the door. good track record
reported by many....same with Interstate batteries, etc.

ohlord....i found myself near your part of the neighborhood last evening.
Forum member selling new Bilstein Sports so I headed up there after work.
Got lost near something called Silver Lake. Had I known I would be so
close, I would have dropped off DVD. I'll toss a few stamps on it tomorrow
and get it moving your way.

I bought an Odyssey PC680 online and it was here 3 day s later--but I don't recommend a battery like that for the faint of heart! Don't forget to re-sync your sunroof, steering and power windows after you reconnect the battery. I thought I blew some fuse or something.

mb roadside service is cheeper for a new battery

hi i have not priced mb batteries in a while, but i think they are around 125 at the dealer.

my service advisor (way back when i went to the stealership) once told me to call mb roadside service (since it is free) and have them install a new one. he said it is cheeper than bringing it in. they will only charge you for the battery. I would call them and get a quote, then check on interstate and all the other top choices at the local part stores.

+1
you cant go wrong with this deal, they come to your house or wherever the car is located take the old one out put the new one in check everything along with the charging system and reset the settings so it will behave the way you had it before and the take the old battery so it gets disposed properly. Ray Catena in NJ said that the battery is about $150.00

The correct choice is MBZ Road Side Assitance
1-800-222-0100
You may save some $$$ fooling around on your own.
But Roadside installs and gives you a 1 year warranty.

self install takes 15 mins for me, including resetting and resynching of appliances.
I still get the warranty. I pocket the $50+ difference and can buy a full tank of gas

1997 E320 (silver/black)
I just replaced.....

a six-year-old Sears Diehard international in my '97 E320, with the same
type as a maintenance precaution. I've never had a battery that lasted that long without problems. Fits perfectly and has proper vent tube.
