Need Some Imput On E-class Purchase

I have a buddy who will sell me his dad's 96 e 320 with 113,000 miles on it for 12k besides the higher miles for it's year the car is in perfect shape. Everything works and it drives like new. He just put new tires on it (mxv4's) and has all the service records for it since the day he bought it. Do you guy's think that's a deal?
I have many other benz's but I don't much about the newer e- class. Is the car as well made as the older 124 chasis? Can expect to get 300k+ out of it? What are some things to look for that might be wrong with it now? Or in the near future? Thanks in advance!!

what would be wrong with a 96' 320...........i'd say your biggest hassel would be LIGHTBULBS! these burn out like...every 3-4 months. and it gets annoying when your car looks like its got one eye poked out.

other than that.....i'd say check all the electronics, Mb isn't that good in the electronics department.

It's sounds like a great deal to me too! But if I buy it I plan to put some miles on it in 2 years I could have 200k on it. Then what do I do. I have a 88 260e with 155k on it and I replaced alot of stuff on it. All expensive I might add. Do you think that because the car is a 96, 200k won't be that bad? Like a water pump, radiator and so on!
