Finally got around to doing this

Haha, not exactly "light bulb holders," I don't know the formal name for them. But you should only need them for the brake light sockets. You should notice that not all of the metal prongs are touching the circruit on the back of your new taillights.

All I did was bend the connectors on my old 'brake light sockets', that is what I did on my rear taillights....and I have yet to purchase a new set of brake light sockets. They hold pretty well, and when you go over a bump they don't come loose. Goodluck!

I tried that, but the metal backing which is supposed to conduct the power to the 3 little connectors was apparently beaten with a hammer at some point, so I cannot get all 3 metal points to securely make contact. I even tried tinfoil and duct tape.

I did that to, worked for a day and then popped out of place. It continuted to pop out of place and becoming really annoying so I went and bought the real deal.

Hmmm, that sounds like a pretty good idea, thanks.
I too changed from the eggs to an aftermarket, non OEM tail light set. I too bent the contacts out.....and it worked, but not anymore. I keep getting the lamp failure message....guess they just get fatigued after a while.
Screwing around with the socket, I managed to short it out and set off allkinds of fun stuff, the BAS Warning, knocked out my passenger marker and city lights - turns out it snapped one of the 7.5 amp fuses ever so slightly, almost escaped my eye.
The aftermarket lights look nice - but DAYUM, the circuit boards on the rear are just junk.
I'll try the bead of solder trick.

Tin foil goes in the connector, not on the head.

I found two blown fuses in the dash box. I had no idea this car had three different fuse boxes. Amazing what you learn from the user manual.
I need to try the solder idea. So you guys soldered extra metal onto the bulb connector prongs to make them longer, right? I assume this allows you to twist off the connector housing in the future in order to replace bulbs as needed?
