can i put command in 97 e420?
I have read all the articles/archives on the issue. But i have yet to find my answer here are my questions. I have a 97 e420 sport with 6 disc changer and tape up front
What command should i buy (US or European) I know it has to be from an E class
i found this on ebay

will i need a canbus emulator from megacomm?
will this do?
What other parts will I need? Do i need a navigation computer? cds? Extra parts to mount it correctly? Wires ?
To display TV and to have aux a/v inputs what do i need?
(european software upgrade? dealer to turn it on? megacomm adaptor?)
Primarly I want it for navigation but if i can hook up a camera or dvd that would be great
I am located in NY and im going to cc nav tv on this. Also My friend has 00 s500 with command does he just need the Megacomm adaptor to get TV or DVD to work?

This sounds like an expensive upgrade and may not be worth the trouble and money. Also check out this site:

There are aftermarket DVD Nav systems by Alpine, etc which are less costly.

How much is the mercedes add on navigation?
Hi,
I am the owner of a 97 E420 and I am also thinking of adding a navigation system to my car. I was thinking of getting the Pioneer Navigation system with DVD playback capablilty which I found on ebay for around $1900. and I was quoted $300 for installation.
Can you please tell me how much that mercedes add on navigation system cost? How much for all the parts and how much for labor?
Which one do you think is a better system?
I am not considering retrofitting a command to my car as I think it will cost too much and is not really worth it considering its cd based navigation.

cabby850, I may have the price and part numbers - I will look. Those aftermarket systems 'may' be better since the newer models are DVD based and 1 DVD will cover the entire US. The Mercedes add-on is CD based with many CD.
