i'm intrigued. currently your car has separate shock and spring as separate
components, yes? i've come across many products of coilover design, but
then they cop out and say...eg 'but not for E320". so please report back
when they arrive as to their actual design.

very nice that KW posts spring rates. i wish all manufs did that.

Here's the thread I found:

Raymond - in my case the dealer I went through in Chicago is calling the engineer to get the correct set-up for me seeing as I have the diesel. He was perplexed as to which spring rate set-up to use for the diesel. He thought the V8 was the way to go from what he remembered. He said they only had one other diesel owner buyone through them a couple years back, but couldn't remember which one was recommeded. He also said the engineers there were real good about setting up the package especially for the sale the last time. They got no complaints from the guy after installation and from what he remembered, it was a pretty nice set-up and ride.

Raymond So Koni Sport is shorter than the stock shocks?
I'm thinking of getting one. I guess once I get the shocks
I will have to change my spring pads again. I'm still running
stock shocks. #1 pads front and #2 pads rear. H&R springs.

currently drive the 83 300SD
Bilsteins

I have a 97 E320. I put the Bilstein sport shocks in and love them. That and the E430 wheels on with 245/45R17 Michelin PS2 tires. No need to go any further for me, I don't go to the track, it's just my daily driver.

Yes, Sports are approx 1" shorter overall so that when used with the lowering
springs, they wont immediate incur loss of 1+" travel right off the bat (as you
would had you paired OE length and lowering spring.

You really dont know what pad you'll need until you size this up with your
rims/tires. Frequently folks will try for wider rims/tires as well, and if the ET
has been affected, it may encroach on suspension or fender parts (ie rubbing)
if you try to lower much more and guessing at the pads.

Unless you have come across someone else which exactly the same assemblage
of parts (wheels, tires/size, offset, springs....shocks) you can only guess at
the pads needed....but ready to swap out if the 'look' or rubbing is encountered.

Fortunately, pads are cheap for the 210 and avgs $8-10 US each.

BTW if anyone needs, I have leftover from my 210 project (2) #1 front,
(2) #1 rear, (2) #2 front. $5 each plus shipping, or all for $30 shipped.

(fyi, i found the Bilstein HDs to be 1" longer than OEM shock)

My experience with BMWs is matching H&R sport springs with OE (Boge) shocks provides the stance you're after with factory ride. I now have an
02 e55 AMG and installed the H&Rs but left the OE shocks because of low miles. The stance is nice, as is the ride with the exception being that the rear is far to soft (bouncy) over bumps. I've been thinking of going to Koni single adjustables but can't find a source. Advice?

The reason your ride is "bouncy" is because the OEM shocks are too long for the shorter H&R springs. From my experience the Koni adjustables are nice but a bit expensive. Bilstein sports would probably be my first choice in terms of the money and they offer a great ride IMO.
