sun sensor replace

Anybody ever do a sun sensor replacement?

Did diagnostic code check..and says bad sun sensor.

All I know is that it's that small black piece on the center dash, near the defrosted vents by front windsheild. LQQks like a hard spot to get to!

It keeps track of the position and intensity of the sun and adjusts the climate control on both sides to compensate.

And the ambient temp sensor sticks out just beside the driver fog light, which gives you the temp. reading on the inside dash cluster at least on my 2000 thats were its located.

Two different things. Sun sensor senses sun (light in other words), temp sensor senses temp. There are some of both on your car; internal and external for the temps.

Raymond, I was under the impression that the sun sensor would always display fault in the diagnostic even if it was good and working. Did you replace yours? and if so did you recheck the diagnostics again to see if it was working?

OK thanks, cause I tried to check it out in the sun and in the dark and got a sun sensor fault both times, but my A/C works quite well and is still on the factory charge.

Thanks again raymond, everytime I search in the parts section on multiple website's, I could note find it under word "sun sensor", but maybe now with the part number# I can located it.

So do you think its defective? or just getting a false read out from the ac diagnostic test?

I'm not having any problem, but felt that if I got that malfunction code maybe it was on the fritz I guess as they say, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Smile sun sensor

Read my post from last week about a/c tips. The sun sensor will have no detrimental affect on your a/c operation,so fix or not you are ok.Clear the codes as instructed and see if it stays cleared.
