bulb out

Yes, I searched the forum, but have a specific question regarding autohausaz.com. The parts returned for a headlight on the site was the following H7 bulb (i have a front headlamp (lowbeam) out).

"Osram Silverstar (Alternate Brand)
Headlight Bulb; H7 Bulb; 12V/55W
May be high and low beams or either one, check bulbs. The Osram Silverstar bulb has the whitest and brightest light available in a Halogen type bulb, for that HID-look style and safety but at an affordable price!"

I don't need a particular look; obviously my 02 e320 uses halogen bulbs, I just want to make sure they look white as the current ones look fairly white. Anyone have good/bad experience with these before I order? $25.00 apiece for a freakin' halogen bulb...ouch...and that's at a discount place.

If anyone in the boston area knows hwere i can just go pick these up...are these normally carried at an autozone type place?

Edit: Found them at autozone for $37.99 each...

obviously, the same exact bulb isn't put into the fog is it? - doesn't it use a different wattage?

by the way nice car, and the lighting is great!

thanks for the head's up though...ill be looking at autozone etc first. even though we're getting tons of sunlight now and i won't need my headlights until after 8/8:30PM most nights, i'd still rather pay more to get them now than wait a week forUPS ground. USPS express/UPS 2-day rates are incredibly high when i can just go get the bulbs locally...will try a napa tonight...

There are Sylvania Silverstar--sold at Pep Boys and stores of that ilk that are a bit blue and are notoriously short-lived.

There are Osram Silverstar which are a Europe-only product, harder to find, are white, are 50% brighter than normal H7 and last as long as normal bulbs. They're the better choice, especially if the goal is better lighting rather than posing.

I get mine here: http://www.powerbulbs.com

Thanks for the valuable info. These Osram's are also sold at autohausaz; I notice on powerbulbs.com the denomination is Euro, which would mean I'm probably paying a lot more to have them shipped (never mind the currency gap).

What I'll end up doing is just ordering a couple of sets of lowbeam H7's and taillights as well just to avoid being stopped if this happens in the future.

do these typically come in pairs - I was under the impression, for example, it would be $37.99 PER BULB on autohausaz.com...the pack on powerbulbs.com makes it appear that the product comes in a pair for 19.99 EURO..?

wow, what luck. a co-worker has an extra H7 bulb (still waiting on the brand) that he never used on his previous car; they now own a new c-class. i'd still like to order a set just in case it doesn't match up well with what I have on the passenger side, but that was perfect timing...
