Smile Brain storming/Maf

Just talking with one of my racing buddies and got on the subject of new Maf's or new inserts and how they sometimes behave after installation.I.E. Learning the new fuel parameters etc.,So thought that if you did a Reset of the ECU,After the maf install ,it would pick up all the info right away instead of waiting for several driving cycles.
Are we correct?
that ecu reset is like a one minute hop up!So it should work...
Comments/thoughts?

I am pretty sure it takes 4-5 hours of engine running for the maf to adjust to correct mixtures on a 210 ecu. Mine took a few days of driving before it felt right. I could be way off here as its just an experienced guess.

Yes but on mb with the fly by wire throttles you can reset the ecu by turning the ign. to on (not start) hold the pedal to the floor for 5-10 sec, turn key off remove foot from pedal wait two minutes and the ecu is back to factory settings.Acts like a whole new beast! So we thought it might adapt to the new maf faster as well

Maybe so, but I think the maf needs to adapt to the enviroment its used in much like the adaptive tranny feature. It's not a simple reset, it needs to learn averages using a quantitative algorithm.
