spark plugs/IKCHRIS
Noted plus 2 platinum plugs,Did not catch that.they don't need to be checked.I was talking about the oe plug with the single L, bosch Fr8dpp33 or NGK 7090.And even then only use the screw type setter to regap. You have more years in the e series than I,so maybe you could tell us newbies to this model,do you use the oe plug style or the new 2 or 4 prong plugs?Seems like the oe lasted the 100k interval so that's what we keep using.
thoughts?

Use the OE plugs.
The other Bosch platinum plugs are for K-mart shoppers only.
Since I'm PO'd at Bosch for eliminating nonresistor plugs, I've replaced mine with Beru 14 FGH 8 DPUR X2 sourced here:
http://www.kingsborne.com/
They're platinum, too, and, like Bosch, come out of the box correctly gapped.
Unless they have Mobil 1, K-mart, Pep Boys, etc. just don't have any parts for German cars, not even light bulbs. And, when you look at traditional German car parts suppliers, they don't often carry the "generic" Bosch platinum plugs, either. Again, the difference between American and German cars is apples/oranges, and there's no crossover.

How did I find my H7 bulbs for my german Audi A4 at pepboys then?????
I forgot that pistons, rods, cranks, oil pumps, intake manifolds, maf sensors, torque convertors, alternators, etc etc are all different between German and american cars. No crossover whatsoever. Obviously German cars have pistons made of gummy bears, not hypereutectic (or 4032 or 2618) aluminum.
what a joke.

While shopping for Ford parts, I imagine.
Did you get the cool blue Sylvania Silverstars that last at best 2 months? Only European Osram Silverstars for me--not blue but last as long as a normal European part.
As for pistons, etc., why not learn how many German components Jack Roush uses in his NASCAR racers? Mahle, Bilstein, etc. See, too, where GM is going to use cracked rods in its new diesel ... think maybe BMW did that first.

Actually, I bought oem sylvania H7 bulbs. None of that silverstar garbage.
Thank you for making my point. There is absolutely overlap between german and american cars, including things like mahle pistons, bilsteins, H&R, etc.
Whether bmw made it first is irrelevant. The point is there is substantial overlap between european and american cars.
