CE Light blinks - then goes off

CE Light blinks - then goes off
I had the CE light blink at me quite a bit, but not power loss when it happened. I stopped for gas (almost empty) and then drove to the movies. After drove home, and the light turned off on it own. I have a ODBII tool at home, but the light turned off before I had a chance to read the codes.
What errors can reset themselves? I was thinking maybe the gas cap is not holding pressure when I am runnig low on gas, but I was wondering if there were any other things I should consider.

codes can be read
It's okay,
the code is stored and you can read it even after the light goes out,pull it see what it is and clear it.could be the cap was loose or your maf is going.the i/m codes are the ones that will show up as not ready for a few engine cycles so pull all the codes and send em to the forum,let's take a look.
