drivers door acts like it is open
I have a 2000 e320 4matic wagon. When I lean on the drivers door to adjust my seating position or during a right turn, the interior lights go on and the doors unlock. When I called the dealer, they said it is a common problem that requires a small adjustment, no appointment needed. I bot the car under the starmark program. I was not impressed by the delivery process as there were a number of problems on delivery so I am a bit leary about the dealer rhetoric. Anyone else have this problem or know the solution.

had the exact same problem...
It is the door plunger switch and the position of the drivers door.
The door is probably not adjusted deep enough relative to the body and is causing the switch to open and close with small pressures on the door.
Very easy fix by adjusting door latch. Really no need to take it to dealer but if they will do it for free, why not.

I found this thread because this just happened to me this morning. It actually happened while going over bumps. All four doors unlock so you can imagine the surprise when I heard all that noice. Be making the adjustment tonight.

concur with gabby...the door jamb switch is a $15 part and may either need
simple adjustment or a replacement. either way, it does tend to cause that
Poltergeist effect. i had mine swapped and n/c as i had ext warranty on my
99 E320.
