Houston - Anyone?
I'm still trying to decide on a suspension for my 2000 E55. Most folks seem to go with H&R and Bilsteins. If there's anyone who has that set up, or any another set up readily available on the market, I'd appreciate a ride round the block in your car to help me decide on my drop. I'd be glad to buy the coffee and pastry . . . Thanks
About a week before I had some exhaust work done at a shop where the owner has a 1st gen E55. His car is lowered on H&R's and stock shocks. He took me for a ride in his car and I was blown away. On very bad potholed Chicago streets his car rode no differently than mine. I have been in cars with poorly thought out lowering done to them so I know what excessive rebound/compression damping feels like, as well as cars that are oversprung. This car did not exhibit any of those symptoms at all.
I have a set of H&R's on the way and exchanged the HD's for Bilstein Sports as these better match the factory shock length. Although if possible I do recommend getting a ride in a similar setup car to make sure.
Thanks for the reply. You mentioned that the car you rode in still had the stock shocks - which means the Bisltein HDs. My sense is that some who have done the H&Rs with Bilstein Sports thought it was too harsh - that is why I have been hesitant, yet it seems to be what you're going for. Please let me know how your setup works out. If you still feel the same way I'm
placing my order immediately.
Incidentally, and off topic, I'm also on a BMW forum and there my user name is X55

Thanks again!
