So i did the exhaust.....

look at the sig for a pic, i'll be uploading them soon. We kinda mighta cut out my only cats, so i have no cats. My exhaust is a straight pipe. To a magnaflow street. I set off car alarms, i can now deafen people in bridges or tunnels. It sound like rice. I cant stand it. So i'm putting on cats, and a high flow resanator, along with this insane magnaflow. I plan on changing the tips to amg tips. So yeah, anyone eles change their muffler? Did you go as drastic as i did?

Ps, do you have to break in a muffler.

personaly i hate it being this F'in loud. its retarded. Tomorrow morning i'm putting on 2 cats, and the muffler. Then if its still loud a resanator is in order. I took my car to one of the best shops in ny for the job. here are some pics.

thanks for posting the pics. now i am gonna make my y pipe just like that. looks like your muffler is straight through design, those are very loud and have sort of like a buzzing sound in the cabin too. sounds good for the first few minutes, for long trips they will give you a headache.

It's not the resonator and it might be some fault of missing cats but it's definately the Magnaflow. That exhaust is freaking loud and although it does sound mean and has a heavy growl, it's a bit too loud for me. Rafi has this exhaust on his and removed the resonator and it's really loud. I removed my resonator and put at X-pipe in it's place and it now has an extremely low and mellow growl to it. I love it and think that's the way it should have come from the factory so maybe you can give this a try. The Magnaflow is the cause of all of your loud noise!

so, i've fixed the exhaust a few days ago and i've honestly tried to like it. I did everything, i drove it i toyed with it, hammered it but i still just cant like it. I have to warm up the muffler to get an exhaust note that doest have that ricey buzz. All i can think of right now is that if i leave it and have this stupid muffler on, my winter will be hell. It takes about 30min just to warm my car in the dead of winter. The funny thing is that it sounds better when i'm parked. When the car is in park and i goose the throttel it sounds AMAZING but anywhere eles it sounds like crap. So the current plan is to cut the muffler and sell it to some civic, and buy an e55 or brabus muffler. Though i will miss the performance gains i recieved. My top end is amazing, i'm only 1 car behind a c43 from a 60-110 roll. Thats quite impressive.

Well, i muted wills car, if i floored it under a bridge and your windows were open you would get that ringing in your ear and go deaf for a few seconds. So it was LOUD. Now, not so much. It sounds like nothing eles in a good way, alota people say it sounds good but i guess it just have to get used to it. I still dont like my headlights and think their ricey. But to each his own. Btw when are you going to captree or to the thurdaynight nj meets.

btw i heard about the car and i'm scared.

I can't imagine it ever sounding decent when all you have is a small six cylinder, no matter what exhaust you put on there. The absence of a couple cylinders and a few dozen cubic inches just will not produce a throaty deep note.

Also, the absence of the resonator will add to the ricey tone...unless that's that you're after. Good luck with what you decide.

One last question...have you ever taken that car to the strip yet?? I'm curious to hear what it runs for real. Unfortunately the ad-hoc drag races I hear of you doing just doesn't give any of us an idea of your cars real performance.

Eric

Uh, englishtown is not even close to 2 hours away from NYC.

Probably an hour an 15 minutes at the most.

Not to mention Island Dragway is about an hour from NYC.
