SRS light on
I have a '96 E320 with 81K miles on it and I don't pay much attention on the instrument panel. I found that the "red SRS" is always on. Is this normal or not? Is SRS for side bags protection? I don't think '96 E320 has side bags, right? is that the reason why the red SRS is always on, am I missing anything. Thanks

Mine did it too. What set mine off was a sensor in the passenger seat that is mounted in the seat cushion. The dealer had to remove the seat, remove the outer cover and then reinstall everything. It was expensive but the problem was solved.

chuckmcdonald... How much does it cost from a dealership? can it be done by a MB Indy? Anyone knows ? Does it mean that I no longer have side air bag protection but still have the front air bag protection

As I recall it was somewhere around 600 dollars to fix. I looked pretty involved. He passenger seat was removed, the skins were removed from the bottom and back and then sensor was inplanted in the seat. Then it all went back together. I would not have taken on the job. Hope this helps.
