The exhaust needs to be broken in, you also installed a random specific exhaust, not the actual E Class specific, the sound was unpredictable.

Taking out resonators will help.

i am glad to hear from an expert, thank you. you said it needs to be broken it, so how many miles does it take for them to be broken in? i dont want to take out the resonator if i dont have to. i drove 1.5 hr to my exhaust guy. will it be anything close to the ones you listen to on youtube. right now its just silent, nothing to be heard at all. maybe a slight humm when yous stick your ear to it.

one thing i did notice it did get better gas mileage and slightly better acceleration in city driving, cant tell the difference on highway though.

if there isn't a dual exhaust to show on the back, nobody would guess i put in a new muffler. i will keep you guys posted, to see if it will sound louder after broken in.

Our mufflers are designed to absorb the raspy sounds created when removing resonators, it will sound much deeper with the resonators taken off.

this is the comparison with and without resonator with remus muffler. mine sounded exactly the same with the resonator, so i expect it to sound similar without. great comaparison for someone considering a remus.

glad to hear that, now i need to take out the resonator. i dont think there will be any difference when my muffler is broken in. the sound i was after is without the resonator. if i had known this before when i put the muffler on i would take it off at that time and dont have to pay them twice.

Drive the car for 2 or 3 miles on the highway at high RPMs (5K+)....your exhaust will break in nicely. Don't be afraid if there is some smoke billowing out after the drive. Let it cool off and enjoy the new sound.

And defintly remove the resonators. Any muffer shop should be able to do it for no more than ~$50.

thanks for the info. a very funny thing, i thought a simple resonator removal is easy enough for a Mainer muffler shop to handle. then i dont have to drive like an hr and half to mass. so i went over to scarborough muffler shop on route 1 and guess what they told me. He said any modification to the exhaust in the state of Maine is illegal. i was like what the @#%$. and you own a muffler shop. its the resonator not the cat. i was outa there in 2 seconds.

Note* just for anyone whos curious, i paid $120 for the install plus $20 for the two gys that worked on it. its pretty reasonable i think.

Not to steal the thread, but I have a brabus exhaust and I was also disappointed with the sound. I looked underneath the car and I saw (I think) 3 cats and 2 resinators. I took out one of each. I was scare I would throw off a few code if I took out more.

My question is if I took everything out, would the car throw a check engine light or anything? I have a V8 if that makes a difference.

thanks

now that you ask, i just snap some more pictures, cause my cat is making some studpid noises. i cant figure which is the cat, is there 4 cat. converters? Tommygunn took most his stuff out and he didnt have any lights on, i think. his pipes coming out of the engine looks a little different than mine.
