Anyone Know?

Does anyone here know the consequences of a dealership selling a car with a broken Check Engine Light on purpose?

Thanks guys.

PS. If you want to know, I did some research/talked to a mechanic/and tested out my car. I basically started it, took off the fuel tank cap, and sat there... waited for the CEL to come on. It never did.

PS#2. I have a Carfax Guarantee on it.

unplug

the mass air sensor , start the car and see if the light comes on.If not ,you need to plug in a scanner and read the codes after that you plug the maf back in.
Post the codes, scanner at harbor freight tools for 39 bucks#94169 or autozone/kraggens/shucks will read them for you.
Do you think they pulled the bulb? Can you prove it?Could have been the previous owner.
I don't like dealers, and you probably paid to much for the car from them,so check those codes and the bulb ,go to the dealer and ask them to replace the bulb.I don't think unless you can prove intent that carfax will do anything.

I agree with ohlord and while it is fraud, good luck proving it. Let us know what happens...

Yeah... I'm going to do everything I can to prove them wrong and get my money back. It's horrible how people can lie to you like that. And there I was wondering why I couldn't solve any of the problems the car was giving me. I feel like a moron.
