Here's a new one. Yesterday while driving home one of my favorite songs comes on the CD changer. I hold the volume button with my thumb and after 2 seconds, the horn blows as if I had pushed the airbag/horn pad.
I couldn't believe it so i tried it at least 10 more times.
If I just 'tap' the volume button it only turns up the radio; if I hold it the horn sounds.
Dealer just services the car and now this. They suspect it will not be covered. I'm not really in the mood to continue fixing this kind of crap all the time. Headrests coming apart, molding disentegrating, vinyl coming off the door handle, window regulators, etc. etc. --Are these cars all plagued with these types of BS failures?

If the steeing wheel's ever been off, it was likely reinstalled incorrectly.
Otherwise, installed incorrectly at factory.
OBVIOUSLY there's a wiring short in the steering column.

Dan, how many miles do you have on the 01 E320? That sounds like a lot of problems. Definitely sounds like a short somewhere. Does this happen when you turn the wheel all the way left or right and then hold down the button. Or move the wheel up, down, in and out and see it still happens.

Steering wheel & horn pad have never been removed. I have 49,000 miles on the car. It has also had several things repaired or replaced through the dealer that have been covered by the extended warranty; motor mounts, tie rod ends/bushings, AC compressor, and a list of other things.
I need to get this into them again to sort this out because I almost never use the volume knob on the radio.
