Combination switch/High Beams

Today out of the blue my combo switch/stalk behaved very odd. The turn signals work fine but the back and forth mechanism to operate the high beams is out of whack. Either a clip broke off and it's loose now or something is just loose. There is no clicking noise, or terminal forward or middle positions, the stalk just floats back and forth. It will activate the high beams but the old pull and let go doesn't return to center...just stays? Spring? Any diagrams showing what it should look like if you remove the little cover?

Price for a new combo switch?

I think I found my issue

I removed the cover at the base of the stalk where it enters the column and I'm guessing due to the "freshness" of the exposed plastic and the reproducibility of what should be normal - the piece of plastic that acts as the fulcrum or hinge is broken. Right at the base of the stalk there's a tiny stem sticking up and the little piece of plastic that holds it seems to be snapped off. I'll see if I can improvise. I'll take apic and post it to verify what I'm seeing is disease state and not normal as I'm sure one of you willing folks would want to pop off their cover and take a look.

the one on my E420 broke off about 2 weeks ago. I think the main cause was the loose wheel column. I planned on fixing that, but the stalk broke too. I got one from www.benzbin.com from $125 if I remember right...just need to go ahead and replace it and fix the loose column.
