W210 Brake Lights

W210 Brake Lights
In need of some advise about my '99 E320. I was told by a coworker, who followed me into work, that my brake lights were stuck on. I have been receiving a "Lamp defective" message (intermittently). Walked around the car and all the lights were working but the brake lights were stuck on. No other error lights or messages (other than LD). Could this be the brake light switch? Thanks in advance

Sounds like the brake light switch to me... $20 part and a little time to install. There is a good DIY over at benzworld.org; I would recommend doing the replacement soon, as the tail light assemblies are not really designed for the brake lamps to be illuminated for long durations, and the excess heat can eventually start to melt/distort things in there. This can lead to a more expensive repair.

This site and the info here is great. I am a new owner of a 2001 E430 and have found this site to be very useful. The car we go is black on black with 130,000 miles. When we go it the headlights where cloudy and the right one had broken mounting. I bought a new set from X3 racing on ebay for about $170.00 for the set which included projector bulbs. I went on here and found the detailed instructions for bumper removal and headlight replacement. 2 Days ago my ABS/BAS/ESP light came on and I noticed the brake lights where stuck on. I found the info here for diagnosis and and replacement. I went to our local MB dealer and got the part for less than $30.00 and replaced is with instructions found here in less than 20 min. Thanks you all. I also have an SRS light on how do I read a code for it?

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
OB2 scanner using the port in the dashboard left of the steering wheel and behind a little door. Places like Midas and AutoZone will read them for free.
