Extended Warranty

Anyone have some pricings on extended warranties? I've called my dealer and he quoted me $2900 for 100k warranty through a company called Heritage (0 deductible). Then I called Lisa from Courtesy motors and she suggested the Daimler Chrysler plan for $2500'ish which is for 75k miles ($50 deductable). I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with a good, reputable warranty company before I decide. Did anyone purchase a warranty with the above 2 companies?

I got the Starmarked extended warranty fro MB when I bought my car. They had given me 1 year extended warranty and I bought two more years for 1,100.00, so I'm covered to 100k or march 2005, 0 deductible

Bargain with your dealer and get the one that comes directly fom MB, you can expect less surprises that way.

Starmark is only available if you purchase your used vehicle from a Mercedes Benz dealer. I did not. My dealer offered me a 3rd party 7year/100K warranty on my 99 (w/ 20k miles) for $1600 with $100 deductable.

No MB dealer I called had any 3rd party warranties that was priced better. I tried some searches on the internet, but all the providers I found did not offer quotes to customers in California (some law). From what I gathered though, this price was good. I only hope the service is good when I need to make a claim. You know, prove that "you get what you pay for" theory wrong. The provider is Buyer's Choice.

I'd call the service dept. and ask them about that provider, you know some feedback, or recommendation.

Exclamation Extended Warranty

I purchased a 1998 E430 with 60K miles recently. I also purchased a 3 year 36K mile warranty with the "High Tech" option from Wynns. I just had a problem with the "Window regulator" and they denied coverage because it was not listed in the warranty. I also wanted to replace a problematic fan in the cooling system but they also denied coverage since it was a "updated" part. This meant that it had a design change made to it and the original part was no longer available. They do not cover these parts. All this being said, make sure you read the fine print and are very aware of what is and what is not covered. I would not recommend Wynns.

Warranty

I bought my warranty from Lisa at Courtesy Motors last year, before the prices went up. She was the lowest cost. I received the documents in the mail, and the extended warranty also shows up on the computer-generated invoice when I take the car in for service. I got the premium 48 additional months or 100,000 mi. for $1,780 in 9/01.

I just read my warranty and "All electric motors" are covered, the Windows regulator is an electric motor. One of those regulators broke on my car a while ago, but it was still covered under the standard warranty.

Make sure you compare what is included with each of the warranties you check on.

That's why you should only buy an "exclusion" warranty. That means that only items they specifically excluded are not covered. As opposed to warranties that list what is covered (they then get very clever about what was not listed)

Extended Warranty

Does anyone know if Starmark warranty is an extension of the factory warranty which expires at 50k miles. Or does it provide less coverage?

If you are planning to buy the extended warranty from Herritage, make sure to have "wear and tear" included in your policy, from what I know this will only cost an additional 120$. I'm not sure but you might better off to buy it from the company directly. Below is the link to Herritage:

What exactly does "wear and tear" mean with the heritage warranty? I doubt it means wear/tear items such as brake pads....

According to the heritage website, you cannot buy directly from the company, you have to go through a dealership.
