Where to get a tool kit?

Taking a trip to Vegas today in my "new" E320 Estate. Check the pressure in the spare. Where's the F-ing tool kit? No tool kit. Anybody got one to get rid of or a line on maybe a place that has them used? I expect they sit in the wheel wells of junk cars all the way 'till the crusher. But I need one!

Thanks in advance.

go to sears and buy a nice boxed kit. make sure its got metric wrenches and sockets. get a breaker bar with the right size for the lug nuts or a 4 by spanner. put some fuses in there too. the kit that comes with the car is weak imho.

If you want used, try Ebay. If that doesn't work, maybe a dealer can still get a new one for you.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd watch the classifieds on sites like this and contact anyone 'parting out' a vehicle similar to yours.

As has been suggested, you can easily put together your own from readily available tools. Only exception is the threaded rod which is screwed into a lug hole to help align the tire/wheel when mounting. I would imagine you'd have to get that at a dealer. The tools in my kit are a couple of open end wrenches, a reversible phillips/flat blade screwdriver, the alignment rod, a pair of medium channellocks, lug wrench and a crank to open/close the sunroof manually. Hope that helps.

Thanks, guys. I do have an X wrench, but it's way too big to fit inside the spare wheel. Going the Sears route, you also don't get the threaded tow eye and the special wrench for emergency sunroof closes plus the aforementioned wheel alignment tool. Didn't find anything on ebay.

I decided to give uneedapart.com a try. They have a locator service that sent my request to "multiple" junk yards (how many? who knows?) Within an hour, I got this response:

$25 on the tool kit, got it in a 2000 E Class SW

Needless to say, I snatched that up. Something tells me that even our "good guy" price at a new car dealer would be $160+ (I may be very low). They're in Georgia. Might also be good to deal with them direct if you're local...
