Question Quick Brake Pad/Rotor reccomendations please

Hi all,

I am the owner of a 1998 e300 TD with 225,000 miles. Still going strong but I just got the message that the rear sensors are cut through.

I checked at my local shop but they want $400 to do the rears, so I figure I will do them myself. I had read many of the posts and it sounds like a saturday afternoon kinda thing.

I have seen many pad/rotor suggestions and was hoping a few of you could point me in the right direction. This is my daily driver, for a long freeway commute. I am not looking for anything high performance, or with super stopping power. The stock set up has always done fine, but I would like to try to reduce the brake dust.

With that in mind can you provide a suggestion or two on pads/rotors that would stop as good or better as stock and limit the dust?

thanks

One place where I feel we get a "break" as Benz owners is tons of 1st class brake components at very fair prices. See AZ Autohaus.

I'll suggest either ATE or BALO rotors. I think they've got Brembo and Zimmerman, too. Just avoid any of the crap that says cross-drilled/slotted/cryo-ed, etc.

I really like Mintex (red box) for a daily driver. Minimal dusting, excellent performance with hot or cold pads.

Enjoy!

clarification please

I like dealing with tirerack, so I looked at the site,

did you mean the

"Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads "

in your post, that is the only Akebono pad I see for my fitment, I did not see the "sport" model
