2000 E320 Muffler Replacement Options
My muffler (not one of the 2 cats up front) has a rattle, dealer says there is some loose rust inside, no need to replace yet. Seeing that the MB replacement muffler is $1085 according to them, has anyone put on any aftermarket muffler?
I dont care about sound or performance, this is my daily drive to work and there's plenty of rust in other places! Midas? Meineke?

Quite a dealer you have there, quoting you essentially double suggested retail.
Try here, where you'll note suggested retail is $545 and your price is 20% off that, i.e. $425.10 (You'll pay 10% for freight)

Part number is 210 490 36 21

Hey, thanks for the pointer. I checked out that site. Where did you get the image though?
Wonder if I could order it and then bring it with me to Midas to install, I dont have a lift. Problem is sometimes you get iinto a job like that and find rotted pipes or other hardware that they might not have the parts for though.
Again, thanks and were did the pic come from?

another option is that most custom muffler shops, not midas, will have universal type for less, however don't be to quick to say you don't care about sound, non oe can be loud and your ride to work would be misery.
Find a good indie shop as Kent pointed out "quite a dealer"
Stop the rust and come visit more often.
