Ok fellas, my E-320 with the straight 6 engine is leaking oil from what seems to be the headgasket area in the front. It used to leak before but now its getting to be too much and now its leaking onto my exhaust manifold thus creating smoke!
- Anyone know how much a repair like this would cost?
- Anything i can do to help out the problem other than a heavier weight oil?
Hopefully someone can help, Thanks!!!!!

A 1999
with a L6 m104 engine?Or is that a typo?
m104 had head gasket problems,so confirm it is the hg and not the other common problem of timing chain cover leak, and get out the tools or the check book![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
upgraded gasket is avail.

like ohlord said, make sure where is leaking, is it from headgasket or from timing cover. it is a little tricky. if it's the timing cover, that's gonna cost you between $120-150 at an indie. if it's the headgasket that's probably gonna cost between $800-1000 at indie, and probably $1500-2000 at dealer. this is assuming indie charges $65-75/hour. it usually is an external leak, so other than the stains on your garage floor, it won;t damage anything as long as your oil level is fine. mine has leaked for a while now also. i switched from synthetic to dino oil, and that did slow down the leak. i use mobil delvac 15w40, and change the oil every 3-3500 miles. don't add oil between oil changes, can;t really tell a difference in oil level in between changes either. i;m just waiting until the leak gets bad, than i will consider fixing it. maybe after 2-3 years.
and another thing, when changing the oil, add up to the middle of the oil level mark, do not go to the max, your engine doesn't like that.
