'01 E320 4MATIC - Limp Mode issues

'01 E320 4MATIC - Limp Mode issues
Recently been having issues w/ the benz. Got front axle replaced along w/ cv boots and car ended up stuck on the side of the freeway the next day. Took another week before they could fix it. Then had issues on no power when throttling and they had some "specialist" come in and replace something to do with the pedal. Few days later now and again no power. This is not the car I usually drive so I have not looked into the issues until now. "They" are Import Auto Works in Pasadena and usually do a good job on our old '85 300TD but I'm not sure they know what's going on with the new E. Can anyone vouch for them on newer MB's?
From my testing, it seems the car is fine with normal driving, but if you go WOT or just gas it a lot it seems, the car goes into limp mode. If you turn the car off and on again, it resets but will go into limp mode as soon as you gun it again. A CEL came up one time and hasn't gone away w/ shutdown (haven't scanned yet). I searched and it looks like one guy w/ a E420 had the same issue but no resolution. Anybody hear of this and know what the problem could be? Thanks.

Go to harborfreight
tools and pick up the 94169 scanner for about 40 bucks. and read the codes,post them and maybe we can point towards a solution.
Bad cat,bad o2 sensor,bad maf,among other possibles.Get the codes and lets see.
