Check Engine Light
Was idling the car for 2 hrs,,,check engine light came on and re-appears now with no obvious engine problems,,anyone had this happen before??

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.

not a great idea to idle an engine for two hours.
B.open the gas cap and screw it back on ,while the engine is off.
if code does not clear after several drives,read the codes,you can order a code reader at harbor freight tools #94169 or pick one up if in your area

or some auto parts stores read them for free.Kraggens,autozone,call around.

Don't worry unless it is a blinking cel you are okay to drive the car.

Yeah,,I know,,but was asleep in the car with the heat on in 6 degree weather.Im gonna try the gas cap thing,Im sure your right about driving it because I have no obvious engine issues since the light came on.Thanks much OL,,I'll post the results with codes if nec.

Shut
it down for periods of time and use the rest function.It uses the aux pump to send residual heat from the engine into the climate control system for about 30 minutes,and then you warm up again and repeat.

LOL,,,been using rest quite a bit,,,sometimes it results in no start at all.Have a jumper/tire inflator in the trunk for those times,,,the battery is a new Interstate 850 cca.But tried the cap,,no good.Ill watch the mileage and engine behavior a while.
