remote lock issues

as of lately everytime i go out to my car, i go to unlock the door and then the button wont unlock the car, so i have to go over to the passenger side to open the car, wen i get out the button still will not lock the car; then after i go do whatever i come back; press the button and then it unlocks. then wen i get out again the button works to lock the car; i come back out to the car some hours later; and the same occurs
my keys batteries are fine it lights up when u hold the button; but when youre close to the car and the button isnt working for whatever reason; it wont light up when you hold the button until youre a distance from the car...
any idea of whats going on?

Remote Lock Issues

First off nice to meet everyone I just joined and did not find an "Introduce yourself" thread so here Iam ...

I purchased an E 320 (97) in great condition that from a friend
Everything seems fine except 2 days ago I began with the same problem described above the remote just did not work so I opened the car by means of the trunk lock ... however later on It worked just fine....this condition has reocuurred on and off for the last 3 days or so... I have already replaced the remote Batteries and when I did it worked a bit better I actually was able to activate the locks by pointing it at the front of the car, and the indicator lights on the back of the mirror lit up (1st time those worked).......

I am wondering If it may be my keyremote and don't have another to test it. Does anyone know if there is a brain or a receiver dedicated to this function...... I'd like to keep the car complete and don't want to replace it with an aftermarket alarm that may be more of a headache than it's worth.

Also does anyone know where i can get the small plastic window for the door handle where for the sensor? As well as the screen for th trunksensor? Seems the dealer never has the available . I will post pictures so you see what i am talking about.
Thanks for all Help!!

Ohlord, you forgot to tell him to hold the key up just under his chin and open his mouth as he pushes the button......................

Congrats

on the new benz lover
Cherish these times and get some rest.

to the other member,I found it in a back door to the mercedes training site and then raymond provided a link that had the same info without having to run the software program.
bookmark it because it has lots of good info in the disassembly section and the transmission section.
