Car stalls on extreme hard braking.

Car stalls on extreme hard braking.
The car is a 97 E320 with the V6 motor. 288,000 kms. I have owned the car since new.
On the week end i had to do an emergency hard brake and just as the ABS kicked in the car stalled.
It started with no problems so i did another extreme hard brake just to see if it stalled again and it did. Every time i have tried it, the car has stalled.
Under normal braking there is no problem its just under extreme hard braking that it stalls.
When i rang my service dealer they said they have not heard of this happenning before.
Any ideas?
