Oil Leak....Need Part Identified
Ok, the wifes car, a 1999 E430 sport has an oil leak. The indy shop today discovered where the leak is coming from but has no idea what it is and unfortunately I dont either. I have attached some photos showing the exact part in question so hopefully someone can tell me what part this is. Right under the drive belt, just below the oil filter housing, pointed at the part with a metal file is the part that is leaking. It has a top and bottom nut with something located in the center...I have no clue. Any idea what this is and what it is for? Thanks.

oil pressure test port, replace the cover and gasket it is fairly common, you can get the parts from the dealer, the cover is attached to the oil filter housing with two bolts, pretty easy to replace

For most of your questions you might want to post in the W163 forum for early ML models.
The images above are looking down on the front of the engine (timing cover). The inspection port cover is rectangular about 1 1/4" by 2 1/2" with torx (external) fasteners located diagonally. There is a hex drive plug in the center (3/4"?) which is where a pressure gauge can be attached. It is partially behind the fan belt which crosses the engine in that area.
A common weak point for oil leaks on the 3.2l V6.
