2000 E320 Headlight Aim Question

I installed a pair of Sylvania Silverstar H7ST bulbs, nice lighting upgrade. However, the beams have a tilted horizontal line. Both beams have the same tilt of about 20 degrees (like / although that is 45 degrees). Rotating the bulbs a bit does nothing to that tilted line. I assume it's the reflector inside. Is there any way to flatten that out so the line is horizontal - ?

you have a reflector based headlight system, yes? (the ones in which the
headlight lens is cut/fluted to aim and focus the beam?) if so, then adjusting
for rotation is problematic as there is no control adj for that axis. if you have
a projector based headlight system, you may need to open the headlight and
rotate the projector on axis. this will be a bit of a custom tweak as there
does not exist a rotational adjustment otherwise.

take a picture of the beam against wall and post. it's odd that the beam can
be this far off spec. post pic of your headlight as well. it is OEM reflector,
right?

Low beam headlights have a mask that maintains a horizontal beam pattern to the left side of the lamp center and on the right of center the beam pattern is allowed to rise above horizontal by about 20 degrees. What you describe is normal.

As you can imagine, this is a tough photo shoot. Here is the best I could do.

Is this normal?

that doesn't appear normal to me. let me ask this...which one best matches
your headlight in construction? first, second or third?

Mine is the white car on the top. Not HID. I didnt notice the slant until I put in the H7 Silverstar bulbs, and I confirmed it's not the bulb's fault. (rotating it has no effect)

Bob That is not as defined as mine or others I have seen, You should be able to clearly see the horizontal cut off and the raised cut off to the right.
To me yours do look out of focus and rotated to the left (right low, left high)
I am at sea and can't take a pic of mine but maybe some other gracious member will.

Out of focus is probably because the plastic lenses are dulled and need to be polished (again) with Meguiars PlastX.
