this really sucks
ok well heres the deal...i bought a pair of hid projector lights for my 2000 e320 4matic....i went outside to go install them but then realized i couldnt....so i came back to my computer and searched headlight installation...I FOUND OUT I HAVE TO REMOVE THE BUMPER!!!....can anyone please assist me with this....i dont want to mess up my car....anyone else taken their bumper off and what is the best way to do it???

The best way to take your bumper off is following WIS procedures.
You can have these by buying the W210 Service DVD from your dealer or at 800.for.merc or by subscribing for a day at http://www.startekinfo.com and downloading to your heart's content.

Kents link to the startek is way more complete and if your 2000 pre dates the wis info you might need it,I think zams pdf showed build dates in effect at the time the info was printed.He also had a link someplace on this site.

Briefly, remove the lower engine cover underneath attached to the bumper. Next, there are 2 nuts, one on each side of the bumper on the ends where they meet the fender at the wheel well. Remove those 2 and then slide the metal bracket forward to release. With the hood open, remove the small clips on the front part of the radiator and remove the flimsy plastic cover. Still your hand behind the bumper and feel around for 2 more bolts, remove those. Finally, remove the screws at the headlights and that should be it. The bumper should slide right off. Oh, don't forget to unplug the foglights and remove the corner lights on the bumper, sorry!
Tip: before you put it back on place a couple of strips of blue masking tape at the edges of the fenders at the front of the wheel wells where they will meet the edges of the bumper. Upon reinstallation, this will help keep the edges of the bumper from rubbing on the fender and scratching everything up. I wish I would've taken pics. of all of this (I usually do) but the camera was dead and I needed to hurry up and finish.
