From my experience with diesels, a new high-quality paper filter will flow better than a clean K&N. A dirty K&N will flow better than a dirty high-quality paper filter.

Do a search and you'll find a lot. After a lot of research on several vehicles including my E-class I've decided the stock filter is best and you likely won't see any improvements with the K&N. As the man said the oil can interfere with the mass air sensor.

Stay OE
The potential gain does not out weigh the definite risk. I had one in my BMW and my throttle body had to be cleaned more often. Just more work for no gain.
