Question How To Explain To MB Dealer About Catalytic Converter Replacement

I just bought a 2001 E 320 wagon with 75,000 miles. I know that MB will replace the catalytic converter before 80,000 miles under warranty. What can I say to a dealer to have it replaced now? I think that it's a good idea to do it before the warranty runs out.

I do not believe they will replace them unless there is some sort of a failure with them. From what I understand its not a blanket replacement policy but just with certain VIN ranges and only if there is a failure.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
It is a blanket replacment

If a cat fails before 8years or 80tho miles it is warranted under the emissions provision. Now on to the greater issue, cats sometimes fail due to construction issues or rust out if you drive a lot of short trips and never bring them up to temp.If it is fine you won't get them to replace it and there is no need to.They can last over 150,000 miles if not defective, you do proper maintenance so the engine stays in top shape, you don't ignore check engine lights that with emission related issues like mafs and o2 sensors that can kill a cat before its time
If the cat goes after 80k splice in the oem replacment unit for about 50 bucks from racepages.com replace the o2 sensors, find out why it failed and move on down the road.
Trying to ruin one to scam the dealer will only lead to trouble and sleepless nights
