Engine Concerns
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to do an engine swap to my car and I was wondering if you guys can help me out here. What are the things I need to concern before I do a swap? Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks everyone!!!

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.

be careful.
Two.Get all your fluids and tools before you start the job.
Three.Disconnect the battery first,and then disconnect the battery cable from the starter.
Four.Install new belt on the new motor.
Five get new motor mounts and trans mount for the new set up.
Six.use the hood all the way back feature and you will have easy access for removal.
Seven.What happened to the old engine?You were modding the car and dropped off the face of the earth.
Starteckinfo will be your friend.
Got the motor yet?

In all seriousness, what engine are you putting in, are you planning to reflash the computer or get a new ecu, same tranny, new motor, used motor, etc?

You
are looking at sticking a v6 with all can bus controlled electronics and a 5speed trans into the hole of a 6banger with a 4 speed?

you would need the whole donor car,be able to swap all the controls for the ecu,throttle by wire,rear differential,some frame connectors to handle the extra 140hp.Several months for all the design and fab work,motor and trans mounts,engine bay mods.
Sell it ,buy an E55 and call it good.
Put a Cobra engine into a 57 XK140 Jaguar,big blocks into shoe box chevys,Porsche engine into VW bug,chevs into fords etc.
those were fun and easy compared to the nightmare you are subjecting yourself to contemplate

Thanks for summarizing the entire project into a phrase.. and my god... This truely sounds like mission impossible and very pricy too.. I think I will get an E55 instead if I was to do an engine swap. Thanks ohlord!!! By the way, I'll be coming down to Seattle sometime, and I was hoping if you can help me out with my car. Replace the oxygen sensor and stuff.. I can pay you for the labour if you have. Once again, thanks everyone!
