Whirring noise?

My engine is making some kind of whirring noise. I can't pinpoint the location but it seems to be coming from somewhere inside the engine. It comes on for a few 2 or 3 seconds then is off for 2 or 3 seconds.

Is this bad? What could it be?

My guess is a vacuum leak of some sort, but that is only a guess. I could be completely wrong. Anyone had this noise?

Sounds like the A/C compressor is cycled on and off check the A/C for a low charge ...also one can test the A/C via the A/C pushbutton controls ..do a search on the test info

I've figured it out

It is the serpentine belt tensioner.

However, I don't know if I have to replace the whole thing. I'm going to dig into it this weekend to figure out if I can repair it or what.
