Glove Box Part

Inside the glove box of a W210 is a piston designed to slow down the rate at which the door opens. Mine has gotten hard and the door drops rather abruptly. I have tried using silicone grease to lubricate but no help.

Can this part be replaced? Anyone have a part number?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't have an answer for you, sorry, but will this graphic help your readers? Are you referring to part #71?

this part can be replaced, you can try ebay and just replace the whole glove box and swap the locks, you can get them for dirt cheap on ebay

For what it's worth, I checked eBay and found the following glovebox door, but nothing about the actuator that lowers the door softly. You might think of asking this eBay guy since he has tons of E320 stuff for sale. Check out his other auctions:

And then try this auction for the whole banana:

Part 71 is it, actually it is merely the rubber piston inside.
