Why
are you changing it?Are you showing a cel code attributed to the maf?You can clean it with crc brand maf cleaner.

Yes your ecu will reset to the new maf when installed.When the proper output signal from the new maf gets relayed to the ecu it will adjust the fuel system for best efficiency.

Or you can try just finding the sensor insert, I bought mine on ebay for $100 and it's an original bosche sensor. But you have to be careful, ebay has a lot of chinese sensors that don't work very well. Always check the feedback

I have seen and heard about different results in performing a MAF/AFS clean. In my book, a AFS unit is a wear part, and should be replaced by a new unit when defective - but there are different oppinions on that matter.
Hope the post from Parrot is usefull, should you choose to do a DYI clean.
