E320 4matic wagon
Doesn't start after car wash

I have a 2000 E320 4matic wagon with 100k miles. Generally runs like a top. A few days ago drove abt 30 miles and parked it. An hour later returned the 30 miles and got the car washed. They pulled it out of the car wash and turned off the ignition. The car would not restart. Lights go on on the dash, horn worked, but no starter engagement. Not a peep. After about an hour, she started right up. Any suggestions on how/what to investigate?

tks in advance,
Ken

Sounds like the crank position sensor is Defective

Also Check the Starter to see IF it gets power from the Ignition Switch with the key on. ..defective windings and or the defective starter solenoid

I know its kind of off the category but i had W124 with exact same problem. That car had a small black box on the driver side fender..under the hood with a vacum hose and some electrical connector going into it.Some kind of measuring thing. When it got moist under the hood the car just wouldn't start at all.I had to push it off the washing booth and left it there.Took overnite to dry out.Ofcourse at the time i didn't know what the problem was
