A not-so-friendly squirrel decided to munch on my engine wiring harness. Local MB dealer is calling for replacement ($981), plus $1,100+/- labor. Insurance company (Nationwide IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE) tells me they have something from another MB dealer who indicates repair is fine. I am trying to find out if anyone knows of a TSB from MB, regarding repair / splicing, versus replacement. Local dealer says they will not warranty any repairs to wiring harness. I am also concerned about resale value, and having to disclose a material defect. Local news has had a story on TV about dealership getting sued for not disclosing a previously cut wiring harness (different vehicle).

I checked www.ALLDATA.com ... but did not find anything through their search engine. I sent an e-mail to their Tech SUpport, asking for clarification. Any links or information would be appreciated.

any good auto electric shop have them repair the wires and wrap properly.It will have no detraction to value when you sell it since you would be selling it as is with no representation of defects.Which will not be a defect anyway if properly repaired.Keep it two years and it will be worth well under 10grand and no one expects perfection for that kind of money.

your engine harness will work just fine let then fix the wire or wires. did you have a check engine light on. ask the tech what wire or wires it is. and dont say anything about the wireing harness. when you sell the car sell it as is.
