96 E200 W210 sunroof n'stuff
Hi guys,
I'm a W210 Virgin, as I just recently bought an aging (but still good looking) E200 estate with 200k on the clock. She has a few teething problems that I wonder if anyone can advise on please :
1) The sunroof - doesn't retract, I've read that the cable runners come loose and a new part needs to be fitted with 2 screws (as opposed to the one originally fitted) but it says you have to take the glass out to do it. Can anyone advise on how to do this please ?
2) Under braking, there is a judder from the front end. I thought it might have been warped disks, until I see in the service record that a mechanic has pointed out wear in the bottom ball joints (20k ago). So I'm thinking it's probably this, so i) are they easy to fit myself ii) Will I get away with just replacing the bottom 2 joints, or do you usually have to replace more ?
3) The central locking works and the immobiliser, but someone has disconnected the alarm. Are they known for being troublesome and therefore best left as is, or are they usually easy to sort out ?
Any advise on any of the above would be greatly appreciated, like I say, I'm a total novice with W210's and haven't yet got round to investigating the above problems yet, but thought any advise before I start might get me on the right track straight away ......
Cheers guys
