E320 w210 kick down problem

Hi, I have a 2001 E320 cdi merc, w210 model. I have started loosing the ability to drop down gears to accelerate, Sometimes it will be fine then stop working. normaly if i slightly press accelarator she will fly, dut now it`s not alweays happening. she will just pick up speed slowly changing up through the gears. and then if by magic 5 mins later it will be ok again.may then work for 5 mins and stop again.
Please help.
Thanks all.

Mine does the same thing, i dont think there is something wrong.

The peak torque is around 3500 rps, so u may be mashing the pedal at the wrong times/speeds to get shifted down to the right gear and have the car fly as ur used too.

try it nest time around 35mph

then at 45mph...ull see the difference

hi markymark

just wondering: did u check the error codes before u realized it was the MAF?
if so, did u get a code and which was it?
just curious as i feel i maybe have similar problem. trying to figure out if you always get codes or if the problem can persist without triggering a real error/failure code.
thx
